CICA-STR
International Conference on Interdisciplinary Analyses of Aggression & Terrorism
27th - 30th September 2007
Madrid, Spain

Conference Program

On September 27, 2007, the Society for Terrorism Research, along with Coloquios Internationales sobre Cerebro y Agresión (CICA, based in Madrid), hosted a three day conference on the Interdisciplinary Analyses of Aggression and Terrorism.  CICA Director J. Martin Ramirez opened the conference with a welcoming speech – in Latin!

Almost 100 top thinkers and researchers in the study of terrorism, aggression, and violence gathered in Miraflores de la Sierra, Spain to share their ideas and their findings, and to LEARN, SHARE, & INFLUENCE.

Keynote speakers from Italy and Spain spoke on global terrorism and the risk of nuclear catastrophe.  Symposium members from Northern Ireland, Iran, Australia, South Korea, Germany, and the United States discussed terror management, societal and personal reactions to terrorism, and global efforts to eliminate nuclear weapons and reduce violence.  The Pugwash Conference on Science and World Affairs celebrated its 50th anniversary.

Conference members gathered at La Cristalera, the mountain conference center for Universidad Autonoma de Madrid, in the mountains north of Madrid.  While participating in the conference, they enjoyed hiking the hills, walking to the beautiful town of Miraflores de la Sierra, and the crisp autumn air.

At least 75% of conference participants attended the closing ceremonies, presented by outgoing STR Governing Board President, Alice LoCicero (standing on the right side).
